Tales From The Crib

I'm going to buy stock in the Clorox company. I go through so much of their stuff cleaning up after Isaiah that I'm bound to get a good return on my investment. I ought to buy stock in some company that makes paper towels and plastic spray bottles too. Isaiah has had several diaper "incidents" over the past few weeks that have required the use of lots of bleach to clean up. I've also ended up doing lots of extra loads of laundry. Sometimes I've had to put things back in the wash just hours after I'd put them away. Which reminds me that I probably ought to consider stock in laundry detergent and washer and dryer manufactures.

I thought that perhaps Isaiah had grown out of this but apparently not. While he's making progress in some areas (as in he occasionally uses "yes" and "no" appropriately, I've caught him counting, singing the alphabet, and labeling shapes and other objects in books on numerous occasions, and I can get him to dress himself with some prompting) he seems to be regressing in this one area. I think I'll try holding him hostage in the bathroom again and see if the whole toileting thing makes any more sense to him now than the last time I tried potty training.

On the bright side of things spring has finally sprung and the kids can go outside and play. In dirt and mud puddles. Sophia likes to count the rocks I pick out of the vegetable patch. More laundry for me but at least the kids drop like lead once they're cleaned up and fed.

  1. I was very frustrated as well with potty training. When I was researching potty training a common theme seemed to be praise and positive reinforcement. I came across a website called www.pottytrainingrewards.com. We hung it in the kitchen and named the little boy on the front of the package, Bobby. My son could not wait to go to the potty so he could push the button, hear the praising message, and get his chocolate reward from, Bobby. It really got my son excited about using the potty himself and it was fun for him. Because he became so involved, potty training was easy. So give it a try. Good Luck!!
