Thankful Thursday

In the spirit of Thankful Thursday...

If you go to the web site http://www.letssaythanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving overseas. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services. It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these?

And now onto the traditional Thankful Thursday post. Today I'm thankful for/that:
  1. The tree in the backyard that has been menacing the car for years is finally going to come down today.

  2. Sis3, provincial teenager though she maybe, has been a great help to me the past few weeks. I don't know how I'll manage when she heads back home.

  3. Low humidity.

  4. The night time chorus of insects.

  5. Bubba turns 4 tomorrow.

  6. The people all over the world whose names we will never know who risk their lives to keep us safe.

What are you thankful for?
I speak the truth (as I see it)... if this is problematic for anyone... well then that sucks doesn't it...

Specifically hydrangea flowers. In this post I pointed out that anthocyanin (a family of plant pigments) appears blue at high pH, red at low pH and is responsible for the wide variety of colours in hydrangea flowers. Ilona pointed out that , "in hydrangeas you lower the ph for blue flowers (more acid) and raise it for pink (more alkaline)." I did a bit of checking and found that this is the case . I've been doing research into autism, dyspraxia, how the normal brain works, and how an autistic/dyspraxic brain works (or doesn't work). Traumatic injury to different parts of the brain can cause the same problems suffered by autistic and dyspraxic children. Battlestar Galactica needs more colour?

Here are the letters I mentioned in the previous post. The one that started it (I'm guessing these letters were written after the show's first airing at the end of 2003): Galactica Needs More Diversity The problem I had with Battlestar Galactica was there were no major and very few minor African American characters. There were no Black men in the show at all or if they were, they had virtually no screentime. In the original series, Boomer and Tigh were both played by African American actors. In this rendition of Battlestar, those characters were played by Asian and White actors. In the Caprica city, there no African American extras. On the Galactica's bridge, there was only one African American actress. Another Black actress could be found playing a religious official that swore in the new President of the colonies.
