This was one of those songs from my youth that sparked my interest in world history and politics. It also served to facilitate bonding with my parents. They had lived through so many of the events mentioned in the song. They shared their own impressions of world events with me. Take some time to look back at where we've been and think about where we are going.

Bollywood vs. Bin Laden So never mind the commentary about the influence of Bollywood on cultures currently dominated by Islam, but with 3 billion people watching Bollywood films Hollywood might want to take some notes. Okay one comment, the relationship of Bollywood to the young people of the Arab and Islamic world sounds a bit like American teenagers and the early days of rock and roll. Now on to what caught my eye the first time I watched this. Those of you who watch a lot of American music videos should pay close attention to the clips of the dance routines. My don't those moves look familiar? So have American choreographers been talking with Bollywood choreographers or what?

From this I draw the conclusion that the Pres is okay with the debate when people side with him but not so much when they disagree. That's human and to be expected I suppose. But using the power and authority of the White House to try to intimidate your opposition, the very people you are supposed to serve, into submission to your will is a bit much don't you think? Fascinating on so many levels.

I know it's just a song but I have to ask, if he's so not irreplaceable what was she doing wasting time with him in the first place? Why is she going to waste even more time with another one just like him?

Weird Al has got to be the most creative entertainer in a generation. I've known about this for a while now but today was the first time I've seen the video. I much prefer the Weird Al version to the original. He's up for a couple of Grammys tonight. Good luck dude!

This isn't the best representation of the art form but it is a good demonstration of the versatility of what Americans call bellydance. And the song is a favourite of Sis1's.
