Values Talk
I don't know if you've noticed or not but people have been talking a lot about values lately. Specifically since immediately after George W. Bush won reelection on November 2, 2004. On that day (just hours after they realised that they had lost) Democrats discovered values talk. Before they pretty much mocked people like me for our values (and still do). We were right wing nut jobs conspiring to take this country back to the dark ages for sticking to our values. Now just about every Democrat who gets a few seconds in front of a camera makes sure to blurt out the word "values" as many times as possible.
Democrats also discovered Christians. Specifically evangelical Christians. It seems we are the ones to blame for their loss. It wasn't that they ran an awful campaign with a candidate that grated on the nerves of even those who supported the Democratic party. No, not at all. It was all of us evangelical Christians who seemingly materialised out of nowhere and stole the victory that was just within their very grasp (not).
Stop trying to blame your loss on us. You guys didn't need any help from Christians in completely missing what was important to people in this country. The hollow words about opposing the war but supporting the troops wasn't fooling anybody. The constant complaining about the Iraq war being "the wrong war, in the wrong place, at the wrong time" while American troops were still in harm's way didn't wash with America. A lot of us are quiet pleased that Saddam Hussein is rotting in jail because we are waging the wrong war, in the wrong place, at the wrong time. So are the Iraqis who were once his victims. (Oh did you hear? The Iraqis just had their first free election in 50 years because we fought the wrong war, in the wrong place, at the wrong time.)
We are not selfish enough to pursue our comfort at all costs while people around the world suffer under brutal totalitarian regimes. For some of us there are things that we are willing to sacrifice life and limb for.
More and more Americans are finding the undying devotion of the Democratic party to the death cult that is the pro-abortion movement unconscionable. Do you really expect us to believe that it is right and reasonable for a teenager to be able to kill her unborn child with out consultation with her parents (or at the very least an impartial medical professional) but not be able to even walk into a tattoo parlor even with a parent's consent? Are we really to believe that it violates a woman's "right" to kill her unborn child to tell her that she has other options?
I could go on but I think you get my point.
Please people, stop carrying on with your "we have values too" wailing. You sound like those people who say, "Well, I have black friends!" to prove that they're politically correct. That just sounds shady and it's too little too late. Your actions have already drowned out your words.
A word to the wise, if Democrats want to win back some political influence in this country why don't you stop calling people Jesus Land freaks? How about you come by for dinner instead? I promise that (at my house at least) no one will jump out from behind the furniture and beat you up with the special Bible that every good Jesus Land freak keeps for cramming down the throats of those deemed to be heathen or insufficiently Christian. Okay? Buh bye.
